The 2007 wine tasting events began at Heliotopos Hotel every Tuesday

Once again this year Heliotopos Hotel organizes the already established wine tasting events every Tuesday evening under the unique environment of its volcano cave. The third circle of the wine tasting opened a few weeks ago and it will last until the end of October.

For the third consecutive year, Heliotopos gives once again the opportunity of taste wandering into the wine world of Santorini with the wine tasting evenings which take place every week. This year's wine tasting circle began on Tuesday 17th of April at 19:30 pm with great success as these events tend to be to a tradition for the people of wine. The wine tasting evenings are a free offer from Heliotopos to those who stay in that particular day at the hotel. Guests who do not stay at the hotel may also participate in the event on the condition that they have informed the hotel in advance and have made a reservation. The cost for each of these guests is 25 euro.

Types of Wines
Once again this year the oenologist Mrs. Angeliki Georgantopoulou is responsible for the wine tasting procedure and six different wines from Santorini's vineyard, which belong to the following types, are going to be presented every week:

1.Dry white wine, appellation of origin Santorini of high quality (Fresh Type).
2.Dry white wine, appellation of origin Santorini of high quality (Nikteri).
3.Dry white wine, appellation of origin Santorini of high quality (Aged in oak barrels).
4.Wine entirely produced from one single grape variety (White or Red).
5.Dry red or rose wine made of Santorinian grape varieties.
6.VINSANTO (Sweet white wine, appellation of origin Santorini of high quality).

During the wine tasting the visitors are informed for the characteristics of Santorini's vineyard while representative slides are projected. The duration of the wine tasting is approximately two hours and as last year, the event is concluded with a small reception in the atrium and in the verandas of the hotel. Representatives of the wineries, whose wines are presented in the event, are also invited. The representatives actively participate in the discussions and give more details for their wines to the people.
