04-23-10 08:05
Age: 139 days

20 different donkeys will "graze" casually in central places in the island from the 26th of April.

20 artists associated with Santorini worked all winter with imagination and passion on donkey sculptures to show the artistic side of the island. The result is amazing! Those that have seen them being manufactured in local workshops talk about it with admiration.

The opening of the Santorini Donkey Republic exhibition will be in the closed gym of the island on Sunday, April 25, at 18:00.

On the next day, the sculptures will be dispersed to the most touristic spots, giving the island a different color on the streets and reminding everyone the supply of this amazing, hard-working animal in the development of this place.

At the end of the season all the works will be auctioned and proceeds from the event will be offered for even better protection of older horses treated by the City of Santorini in Karterados, under the supervision of the person responsible for environmental matters, Mr. Dimitrios Sigalas.
