Character: Italian Cuisine with a Caldera View, in a historic building

In the center of Fira, just above the old port and with stunning views of the Santorini caldera, Character brings together authentic Italian recipes and fresh local ingredients to offer a special dining experience.

Since 2012, Character has been a favorite spot for both locals and visitors, offering creative and refined cuisine in a warm, friendly atmosphere. Each dish is created by Chef Branislav Mladenovic, who is inspired by both Italian traditions and Santorini’s local flavors.

The menu includes a wide variety of options, traditional oven-baked pizzas, fresh salads and starters, handmade pasta, meats, and fresh fish. Each dish combines Mediterranean aromas, textures, and tastes, bringing a feeling of summer holidays to your table.

The wine list focuses on Santorini’s vineyards, and the cocktails are a perfect match for the sunset.

The multi-level space connects the building’s long history with a modern, comfortable style.

The building has belonged for centuries to the family of Don Petros Sandantoniou, the current owner. In the past, it was home to the Vulcan Hotel, the island’s first hotel, which operated from 1934 to 1956. It was founded by his grandfather Ioannis Syrigos, also known as “The Hotelier,” and managed by his mother’s family, the Syrigou family.

In 2012, with the opening of Character by V. & E. Nomikos OE, this historic building began a new chapter as a place of taste, memory, and hospitality.

Character is now open every day from 13:00 to 23:30, inviting guests to enjoy lunch, dinner, and the famous Santorini sunset.

The restaurant is managed by Antonis Kontaratos, originally from Pyrgos Kallistis.
