Traveling to Santorini just got easier for international visitors. Aegean Airlines has launched a direct route between Santorini and Istanbul, one of the world’s major airline hubs.
The new flights operate twice a week, on Tuesdays and Saturdays, until October 14, offering a smooth and convenient option for travelers connecting through Istanbul from Asia, Australia, and other long-haul destinations.
By avoiding extra layovers in Athens, visitors can now reach Santorini faster, saving time and adding comfort to their travel experience.
According to Aegean’s Chairman, Eftichios Vassilakis, this route is part of a broader effort to make Santorini more accessible and support its return to full travel readiness after a challenging start to the year.
“We are here to help Santorini return to its best self,” he said, noting that the island is now served by 10 daily flights to/from Athens, 1 to/from Thessaloniki, 3 to/from Rhodes, and now 2 per week to/from Istanbul.
The new route is expected to boost travel options for both international visitors and Greek travelers, opening up easier access to one of the Aegean’s most iconic destinations.
