Santorini Tourism and Transportation Updates – May 2025

Santorini has some important updates to share! After a period of adjustments, the island is fully ready to welcome visitors with improved services. Here’s what you need to know.

Santorini Cable Car Reopening

After a temporary closure due to seismic activity, the Santorini Cable Car is back in operation as of May 15, 2025. Connecting the Old Port of Gialos and Fira, the quick 3 to 5-minute ride offers stunning views of the caldera. Tickets are priced at €10 for adults and €5 for children.

Fira Old Port and Ammoudi Port Reopening

Following safety checks, both the Old Port of Fira and Ammoudi Port are now open again. Visitors and locals can access these iconic spots, known for their unique atmosphere and impressive views.

Thirasia-Ammoudi Boat Connection Restored

The boat connection between Korfos (Thirasia) and Ammoudi has resumed. The vessel ‘ΑLΜΙ’ operates three times a day, offering convenient transport between these beautiful locations (valid until 31 July):

  • From Riva to Ammoudi: 07:45, 12:30, 17:10
  • From Ammoudi to Riva: 08:00, 12:55, 17:25
  • From Riva to Korfos: 08:15, 13:05, 17:40
  • From Korfos to Riva: 12:00, 16:00, 17:55
