Greece and Santorini Honored at the Leisure Lifestyle Awards

Greece has once again earned major distinctions at the annual Leisure Lifestyle Awards, organized by the prestigious U.S. travel magazine Global Traveler, part of FXExpress Publications. These accolades confirm that Greece continues to be one of the top European destinations for the American travel market.

Awards That Carry Weight

The Leisure Lifestyle Awards celebrate the best in global leisure, luxury, and lifestyle travel. Winners are selected through an open-ended survey conducted among the magazine’s readers. This year’s survey ran from September 20, 2024, to January 30, 2025, and included 67 award categories.

The magazine’s nearly 550,000 readers are affluent travelers, with 50% being business owners or top executives. On average, they take 18 domestic flights per year, and 93% travel internationally—most often in first or business class. Over 80% stay at 4- or 5-star hotels, spending an average of 210 nights per year in such accommodations.

“Our readers know the best in the travel industry, which is why these awards are especially meaningful,” said Francis X. Gallagher, publisher and CEO of FXExpress Publications, during the announcement of this year’s winners.

The award ceremony will take place on May 22 in Miami, with the Greek National Tourism Organisation (GNTO) represented by Mr. Konstantinos Harokopos, Head of the GNTO Office for North America.

Top Honors for Greece and Santorini

At this 13th edition of the awards, Greece was named Best Historical Attractions (International) for the fourth year in a row – proof of the country’s enduring cultural appeal.

Santorini also stood out once again, taking the title of Best Island in Europe for the twelfth consecutive year. This continued recognition highlights the island’s timeless charm and unrivaled beauty that keeps enchanting travelers year after year.
