Large and devastating fires broke out two weeks ago in the suburbs of Athens, in Attica, leaving behind burnt forests, damaged property and more than 90 people dead.
From the very first moment, the Municipality of Thira appealed to the society of Santorini to donate primary necessities to the people affected. In just four days, large quantities of water, food, diapers, medicines, personal hygiene items, shoes, sheets were collected and sent to the Attica Region Coordinating Centre to be forwarded to the beneficiaries.
The response of the citizens of Santorini and the solidarity they showed to their fellow citizens in need was, once again, touching.
