The man who united wine and art leaves behind a remarkable legacy
Antonis Argyros, a visionary figure in Santorini’s world of wine and art, has passed away, leaving behind a deep sense of loss among those who knew him and collaborated with him.
With a unique blend of passion for winemaking and love for the arts, Antonis created Art Space in Exo Gonia, housed in a historic winery dating back to 1861. There, he brought Santorini’s rich wine history back to life while also opening the space to contemporary art exhibitions featuring works from both Greek and international artists.
His wines, crafted with respect for local tradition and natural winemaking methods, stood out for their authenticity and their honest expression of the Santorini vineyard. Antonis never pursued mass production, instead, he focused on creating limited quantities of distinctive wines, available primarily at his winery and select fine restaurants.
He will be remembered not only for his exceptional contribution to Santorini’s viticulture and culture, but also for the quiet determination with which he brought his vision to life.
