Just arrived: Assyrtiko de Louros 2022 by Hatzidakis Winery

One of Santorini’s most iconic wines, Assyrtiko de Louros by Hatzidakis Winery, returns with the 2022 vintage. Only 2,100 individually numbered bottles have just been released, adding another rare chapter to the story of Louros, a label that, since its first appearance in 2011, has become synonymous with authenticity and the strength of Santorini’s terroir.

Louros is crafted from century-old, ungrafted vines of certified organic cultivation, grown in the renowned Louros vineyard in Pyrgos. Harvest always takes place later than usual for Santorini, allowing the grapes to reach full ripeness. The wine then spends extended time on its lees, a process that adds depth and complexity, making each vintage of Assyrtiko de Louros a truly unique experience.

In the glass, the 2022 vintage reveals a deep golden-yellow color with luminous highlights. On the nose, it opens with aromas of ripe fruit, citrus, honey, and herbs, elegantly framed by subtle spice notes and the hallmark Santorini minerality. The palate is rich and powerful, with vibrant acidity balancing its firm structure, leading to a long and expressive finish.

The winery recommends enjoying this wine after 2027, allowing its complexity to fully unfold.

The ideal serving temperature is 14 – 16°C. It pairs beautifully with fish in rich sauces, seafood and shellfish, white or red meat dishes, as well as aged, full-bodied cheeses that complement its intensity and depth.
