American Airlines to launch a new daily direct Chicago-Athens connection

American Airlines announced that it will launch a seasonal service, for the 2019 summer season, from Chicago, US to Athens, Greece, as part of its European network expansion.

The flights will be carried out daily from May 3 until October 2, 2019 with the state-of-the-art Boeing 787 Dreamliner, and are expected to offer about 70,000 new airline seats. This will be the airline’s second connection with Athens, Greece, as it already operates the Philadelphia – Athens route.

It is noted that Greece is seeing growing numbers from the US market. Until July this year, passengers travelling for business or leisure showed a 25% increase.

Except for the Philadelphia – Athens route with American Airlines, during the summer season, there also are other airlines connecting North America to Athens, Greece:

– From New York: Delta Airlines, United Airlines and Emirates

– From Montreal and Toronto: Air Canada and Air Transat
