Estate Argyros opens its Vinsanto “treasure trove”
Sometimes, the value of a wine is not judged only by its taste, but by its ability to defy time. Estate Argyros, continuing a tradition that began in 1903, presents the Heritage Vinsanto series, bringing to light three rare vintages that remained for decades in the winery’s barrels.
These are the Vinsanto Late Release from the years of 1947, 1974 and 1982, which are now available in the Santorini.net e-shop.
Three years, three different paths
These wines were not chosen by chance. Each of them represents a different moment in the history of the winery and the Santorini vineyard:
Vinsanto Late Release 1947: A vintage that comes from another era. It remained in the wood for almost eight decades, developing a unique complexity. It is the wine that received the top score of 100 points from the Wine Advocate, confirming the international class of Vinsanto.
Vinsanto Late Release 1974: Half a century of patience. This wine stands out for its structure and vitality, despite its fifty years. The balance between sweetness and natural acidity remains exemplary, offering a rare experience of tasting a wine at its peak.
Vinsanto Late Release 1982: The reward of insight. Although this wine had been released previously, a small amount was deliberately kept in the cellar for further aging. Today, 44 years after the harvest, its dark amber color and the depth of its aromas justify the decision to wait this long.
The launch of the Heritage Vinsanto series offers a unique opportunity to see how the emblematic sweet wine of Santorini has evolved over the decades. These are not just aged bottles, but wines that have been carefully matured under the ideal conditions of the winery, preserving the identity and character of their vintage.
The three labels of the Heritage Vinsanto Collection, which are now part of the wine heritage of Santorini, as well as other labels of Argyros Estate, can be found at the santorini.net eshop.
