About the Vinsanto 1982

The 1982 vintage is a remarkable testament to the foresight of the Argyros family and the extraordinary aging potential of the Santorinian terroir.

Originally released in the early 2000s after twenty years of maturation, a select quantity was intentionally held back in the estate’s traditional oak vats for further elevation, as the family recognized the unique characteristics of this particular harvest. Now, forty-four years after the grapes were picked, this wine emerges from the darkness of the cellar, showcasing a magnificent state of equilibrium and a depth that only decades of patient silence can bestow.

Sourced from century-old vineyards in Episkopi, this blend of Assyrtiko, Athiri, and Aidani underwent a fourteen-day sun-drying process followed by slow fermentation and maturation in large neutral barrels. The result is a wine of intense complexity, offering layers of dried apricots, cloves, and salted caramel that lead into a dense, multifaceted palate.

Despite its age, it retains a vibrant mahogany hue and a lively acidity, a hallmark of the estate’s dedication to quality.
