Today, we are thrilled to announce a brand-new chapter in the history of our live broadcast. To offer an even grander, more immersive experience, the iconic Santorini.net live camera is changing its location.

The feed is moving just a short distance down the cliffside to a venue that perfectly mirrors the beauty of the view it captures: the historic Altana Heritage Suites in Imerovigli village.

The Altana Upgrade

While saying goodbye to our long-time home at Heliotopos brings a touch of nostalgia, the move to Altana opens up a spectacular new vantage point. We aren’t just moving the camera; we are changing the experience.

The original feed is being upgraded to a new state-of-the-art live camera positioned at Altana Heritage Suites unlocking a panoramic of the world-famous volcanic caldera, including views of the Fira and Firostefani cliffside, the Nea Kammeni (volcano). Imerovigli’s blue dome church and many surroundings. From this new vantage point, viewers can enjoy a sweeping, uninterrupted perspective that captures the dramatic scale of the cliffs.

A second camera is soon to be introduced doubling the experience and showing the volcanic islands, and those legendary, unedited Santorini sunsets. Stay tuned!

Choosing the right location for our new cameras required finding a place that truly embodies the spirit of Santorini. Nestled at the highest point of the caldera cliffside in Imerovigli, Altana Heritage Suites is a masterpiece of Cycladic tradition.

Housed in a meticulously restored 17th-century historic building, Altana is a living testament to the island’s architectural heritage. Originally a historic cave-dwelling complex, it blends timeless authenticity with understated luxury. By placing our new dual-camera system here, we aren’t just showing you a view; we are anchoring our lens within the very history, soul, and culture of Santorini.

• Coming Soon to the Altana website: At a later date, the live feeds will also be seamlessly integrated into the official Altana Heritage Suites hotel website, giving guests and dreamers alike two online hubs to access the view.

• Travel Back in Time with Daily Timelapses: Missed some day time because of your time zone? Did a breathtaking weather condition while you were asleep? The camera platform features an interactive timelapse player. Viewers can easily scroll back through the past hours or days, watching the clouds dance over the caldera or seeing the island transform from golden hour to the twinkling lights of the Aegean night.
