Figurine Head

Cycladic figurines of this type depict female figures standing naked and with their arms folded on their chests. Their abstract form might have represented the idea of a “Mother Goddess,” a symbol of fertility and rebirth. The heads of Cycladic figurines, faces with simple features, are associated with concepts such as intellect, power, and personality. In the ancient civilizations of the eastern Mediterranean, the face was considered a window to the soul.
