Notes
Cuvee Gerontampelo from Estate Argyros began as a vision to create a powerful and structured Assyrtiko, balanced by the elegance brought by French oak barrels. The name means “old vine” in Santorini’s local dialect, and the wine fully expresses the character and depth of Santorini’s historic vineyards.
The grapes are carefully selected from the estate’s oldest vines in Pyrgos, Megalochori, and Episkopi. The first vintage was bottled in 2020.
This is a bold and refined wine that pushes the limits of what Santorini’s terroir can offer. It’s the result of a close collaboration between vineyard, grower, winemaker, and local tradition.
In the glass, it shows a beautiful golden color. On the nose, it reveals layered aromas of citrus, roasted nuts, butter, honeycomb, and herbs, all wrapped in a mineral core. On the palate, it is full-bodied and elegant, with bright acidity, smooth texture, and a long, complex aftertaste.
Food Pairing Ideas: Rich fish dishes, lobster, seafood pasta in white sauces, shellfish, mushroom risotto, pork in lemon sauce, grilled calamari, and smoked cheeses. Best served at 10-12°C.
